Westbrook News: Ryan Reynolds to Star in Snapchat Series From Will Smith’s Westbrook Media

Like many American who have been stuck at home amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Ryan Reynolds is using his free time to learn some new skills.

The Deadpool actor and his Maximum Effort shingle have teamed up with Will Smith’s Westbrook Media to launch Snapchat series Ryan Doesn’t Know, in which he’ll learn new crafts with the help of experts in their fields. The 12-episode series, which will stream exclusively on Snapchat, will debut Jan. 30 and drop new episodes every other day.

In Ryan Doesn’t Know, Reynolds will learn ice sculpting with Shintaro Okamoto, VFX tricks with Trevor Bell, lifting with Ulisses World, latte art with Melannie Aquino, floral sculpting with Aurea Molaei and axe throwing with Cliffton Creque, among others.

“Ryan is one of the funniest people out there and watching him connect with and learn from these unbelievably talented creatives is a true joy,” said Westbrook Media president Brad Haugen. “He and the Maximum Effort team were amazing partners on this project, and of course, we love working with the phenomenal Snap team. We are excited for Ryan to learn a few things and ready to bring more fun to Snapchatters everywhere.”

Ryan Doesn’t Know is the third show that Westbrook has produced for Snapchat. The company also worked with Jaden Smith on social justice series The Solution Committee and with Will Smith on pandemic series Will From Home, the first season of which was viewed by more than 35 million Snapchatters following its spring 2020 debut.

“Ryan is a brilliant innovator and we’re incredibly excited to welcome him to the Snapchat community in this hilarious and inspiring series,” said Snap head of content Sean Mills. “Following the success of two seasons of Will Smith’s Will From Home, we can’t wait to introduce another hit series from our talented partner, Westbrook Media.”
