Vatn Systems charts a course to growth and efficiency with NetSuite

Autonomous underwater vehicles innovator leverages the power of the suite to simplify finance and supply chain processes

Vatn Systems, a defense technology company building autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), is using Oracle NetSuite to support its mission to deliver AI-powered maritime solutions for the U.S. military, allied nations, and commercial customers. With NetSuite’s AI-powered cloud enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, Vatn Systems has been able to improve business visibility, accelerate financial processes, and rapidly scale its business to support global growth.

Founded in 2023 in Portsmouth, R.I., Vatn Systems is on a mission to be the next underwater defense prime in a world where autonomous systems dominate naval battlefields. In the last year, Vatn Systems has grown rapidly, tripling its workforce, opening an 18,000-square-foot manufacturing plant, and expanding its fleet of offerings. To keep pace with rising demand and improve operational efficiency as the complexity of its vertically integrated manufacturing model increased, Vatn Systems needed to replace QuickBooks and manual spreadsheet-based processes. After careful evaluation, Vatn Systems selected NetSuite as its new ERP system.

“Balancing speed and traceability are essential in defense manufacturing,” said Stephane Uhl, vice president of finance, Vatn Systems. “NetSuite has given us a single source of truth by connecting finance and supply chain workflows and providing increased visibility from purchase order to balance sheet. As we continue to grow, we are confident NetSuite can scale with our business, and its AI-powered capabilities will help us sharpen forecasts and boost efficiency.”

With NetSuite, Vatn Systems has integrated workflows across finance, supply chain, and manufacturing. NetSuite’s financial management capabilities have helped Vatn Systems automate purchase-to-pay processes, accelerate reporting, and meet compliance with defense contract regulations. NetSuite’s supply chain management capabilities help Vatn Systems track purchase orders, coordinate logistics, and streamline shipping as it expands both research and development and manufacturing processes. To support continued growth and global expansion, Vatn Systems plans to leverage more of the suite including NetSuite’s embedded AI capabilities to improve forecasting and optimize resource planning.

“When a manufacturer owns research, development, and sales, unified data is critical,” said Sam Levy, senior vice president of growth and operations, Oracle NetSuite. “NetSuite’s AI-powered suite gives Vatn Systems real-time insights across its business and the flexibility to scale and support global growth.”
