Sports streaming platform Caffeine.TV hits 60 million active users

Caffeine.TV, a free global live sports broadcasting platform, surpassed 60 million monthly active users today, a massive jump from 5 million a year ago.

The news comes with a few new partners signed on to build a live sports platform fit for the next generation, the company told Cord Cutters News.

The Caffeine.TV platform launched in 2018 as a live-streaming esports and gaming platform. But the platform found more success after switching gears and focusing on sports, and has become a destination for more than 150 sports leagues, as well as content creators, media publishers, and event organizers.

“With the decline of traditional linear cable options for leagues, nearly 11,000 global sports leagues have been left to navigate their own unique distribution path, said Caffeine CEO Ben Keighran. “Caffeine is helping these leagues expand monetization and distribution opportunities at scale while providing a social-first, cord cutting, and highly engaged young audience a platform to watch their favorite competitions in an interactive and community-based way.”

Caffeine.TV gained traction with young cord cutting audiences, resulting in a revenue growth 140 times more than it earned six months ago. The company expanded its live sports programs and content collection, including action sports, basketball, football, combat, and battle rap. Caffeine.TV faces, however, steep competition from other streaming platforms building out their sports offerings, including Prime Video’s NBA League Pass and Hulu Live’s NFL coverage.

The platform is backed by $250 million in funds from Disney, FOX, a16z, Greylock, Coz, and Riot.

Caffeine.TV has cemented partnerships with X Games, World Surf League, Natural Selection Tour, World Skate, The Berrics, Dew Tour, TMPST Free Running, FIBA, Venice Basketball League, World Poker Tour, A7FL, WNFC, Grappling Network, BYB Extreme Fighting Series, BattleFest League, and the Ultimate Rap League, to name a few.

“Parntering with Caffiene.TV has been a game-changer for TMPST,” said Gabe Nunez, co-founder and CEO of TMPST Freerunning. “Caffeine effectively introduced Kings of The Concrete to a diverse audience, creating a dynamic space for fans, old and new, to discover and connect with our content.”

The platform also offers live and on-demand podcasts and digital series from top sports podcast networks and legacy media companies, such as FOX Sports, Barstool Sports, Blue Wire, The Action Network, ClutchPoints, and Bleav.

Caffeine.TV is available to watch live and for free on its website, iOS, Android, Roku, and Amazon Fire TV.
