Otter.ai has launched what it claims is the first interactive action tracker for virtual meetings taking place on Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or in person.
My Action Items is a new tool that complements the AI meeting Assistant which already transcribes, summarises and answers questions about the transcription for any meeting recorded.
With workers spending an average of 18 hours a week in meetings and managers over 22 hours, anything that lightens the load is welcome. My Action Items accomplishes that by analysing the meeting transcription and creating a checklist for all action items highlighted by the meeting. Otter creates a centralised area that enables meeting attendees to access the list, read and check off action items.
What the tool does not yet appear to do is go a step further and identify who is responsible for each item within the list and notify them about them. The users can, however, view, manage, edit, assign, and reassign items as needed.
Sam Liang, CEO of Otter.ai, commented, “Our objective is to empower knowledge workers and teams to be more productive. My Action Items is a step forward in achieving this. Introducing a more modern workflow that offers a clear and efficient way to manage post-meeting responsibilities.”
My Action Items
My Action Items include three features that help attendees to better manage their tasks after any meeting:
- Consolidated Action Items – Eliminates the need to search through past meetings, providing a single, centralised view of all assigned tasks.
- Context-Rich Tasks – Offers links back to the specific moment in the conversation where each action item was created, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
- Notifications – Delivers a weekly digest email reminding users of outstanding action items, fostering accountability and completion.
The solution will be available to all users this week at no additional cost. Otter.ai offers a free limited-use option, and pricing starts at $8.33 pupm.
Enterprise Times: What does this mean
Otter.ai continues to enhance how people work. It is transforming the efficiency of output from meetings. This latest feature ensures that every action item is captured and tracked from the meeting rather than forgotten. It becomes the expert notetaker, secretary and action tracker for your meetings. The AI assistant is becoming a more sophisticated and useful addition to any firm.
It will be interesting to see how it develops further. As Otter.ai builds its knowledge, it starts to identify meeting participants automatically. How soon will it be able to automatically assign actions to the correct person?
