Fnatic partners with BMW to open new facility

European esports organisation Fnatic has teamed up with German automotive marque BMW to open the BMW x Fnatic Esports Performance Facility in Berlin.

According to the announcement, the facility features two gaming performance rooms alongside a match review room, content studio, in-house gym, BMW sim racing rig and dedicated office space.

The facility is said to support Fnatic’s esports performance strategy, which is based on eight ‘performance pillars’. These are health, research, technology and software, in-game performance, processes and operations, youth structure, infrastructure and education. The facility’s kitchen will include appliances supplied by Hisense, one of Fnatic’s other sponsors.

Fnatic’s League of Legends roster will use the facility as it prepares for the Summer season of the League of Legends European Championship (LEC).

Jens Hofer, Director of Fnatic’s High Performance Unit, spoke on the partnership: “The BMW x Fnatic Esports Performance Facility has been specifically designed to support our League of Legends players as they strive for excellence in the upcoming LEC Summer Season.

“We’re so excited to finally be opening the unit alongside BMW and setting a new standard for esports facilities in Europe. This facility is another step forward for our HPU as we plan our return to the top of European League of Legends”.

The deal isn’t the first time the organisation has collaborated with BMW. In April 2019, the marque launched its United in Rivalry initiative with Fnatic, FunPlus Phoenix, G2 Esports, and T1. Moreover, BMW entered a partnership with game developer Psyonix to include its vehicles within Rocket League.

BMW becomes the third partner Fnatic has secured in 2022. The marque joins the likes of L’Oréal Men Expert, internet security company Kaspersky, and sports marketing agency SPORTFIVE on its roster.
