Flex and JetCool launch new modular CDU

Can be configured for up to 1.8MW cooling capacity

Flex has launched a new modular rack-level cooling distribution unit (CDU).

Developed by the company’s JetCool liquid cooling subsidiary, the units deliver up to 300kW of cooling power, and can be configured in designs of two-six CDUs per rack, meaning they’re ready for cabinets with up to 1.8MW of power.

The company says the CDUs are designed with the needs of AI, HPC, and hyperscale data centers in mind, and that the modular design will allow operators to start small and add capacity incrementally as needed.

“With AI and high-performance computing driving unprecedented demand, customers need more than just capacity – they need a partner who can deliver scalability, efficiency, and simplicity across the entire cooling ecosystem,” said Rob Campbell, president of communications, enterprise, and cloud business at Flex.

“This launch reflects our end-to-end approach from design and manufacturing to deployment and support, providing a right-sized solution for today’s challenges and a scalable foundation for tomorrow’s growth.”

Flex said the launch is part of a broader market strategy for CDUs, with a dedicated in-row unit scheduled for release in April 2026.

Formerly known as Flextronics, Texas-based Flex is one of the largest electronics manufacturing services companies in the world, behind Taiwan’s Pegatron, with annual revenues of $26.4 billion.

It acquired liquid cooling specialist JetCool in November 2024. The company relies on what it calls microconvective direct liquid cooling to cool chips – essentially, instead of passing fluid over a surface, its cooling jets route fluid directly at the surface of a chip.
