Animoca Brands welcomes Hockenheimring racetrack to REVV Motorsport ecosystem

Animoca Brands, the company advancing digital property rights for gaming and the metaverse, today announced that it has secured licensing rights to include Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg (Hockenheimring) in its REVV Motorsport ecosystem of blockchain racing games.

The Hockenheimring, located in southwestern Germany and steeped in several decades of motorsport tradition, is one of the most famous racetracks of the world.

Animoca Brands will integrate the Hockenheimring in various products in the REVV Motorsport ecosystem, and will produce and sell NFTs representing partial ownership of the Hockenheimring within the REVV ecosystem. Holders of Hockenheimring NFTs will passively earn a portion of the entry fees, sponsorships, and/or event hosting revenue generated on the virtual racetrack across all REVV-based games in which it features.

Since the opening of Hockenheimring in 1932, countless motorsport events have taken place at the circuit, such as the F1 German Grand Prix, FIA GT Championship, German Motorcycle Grand Prix, NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, NitrOlympX, and Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters. With a length of 4.574 km, Hockenheimring consists of 6 left turns, 11 right turns and 6 straights. The racetrack contains 120,000 spectator seats and entertains approximately 700,000 visitors annually.

REVV is the token that serves as the primary currency of utility, purchase, and action across REVV Motorsport blockchain games by Animoca Brands. REVV is designed to enable true digital ownership of game assets, giving players freedom and control over their NFT in-game items across a growing metaverse of racing games, including REVV Racing, MotoGP™ Ignition, Formula E: High Voltage, and Torque Drift 2.

“We are very proud and happy to take our first step into the metaverse alongside Animoca Brands, one of the top blockchain gaming companies and a true pace-setter when it comes to providing digital property rights to gamers,” said Jorn Teske, managing director of Hockenheim-Ring GmbH. “Our standing as one of the first officially licensed race tracks of REVV Motorsport both underlines the strength of our brand and opens up access to entirely new target groups and a new dimension of fan engagement. The economic potential this yields for us as licensors also makes it extremely interesting as a business case.”

Yat Siu, the co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, commented: “It is an honour to welcome the Hockenheimring to our metaverse of racing games. Players of REVV Motorsport games will be able to race on one of the most distinguished circuits in the world, and will even have the chance to enjoy true digital ownership over segments of the virtual racetrack, with all the associated benefits.”
