Animoca Brands’ Anichess adopts CHECK Token as native token

Anichess, the Web3 chess platform developed by Animoca Brands in partnership with Chess.com, today announced that it is integrating the recently launched CHECK Token (CHECK) into its gaming experience.

CHECK is a utility token designed to reward players’ skill, creativity, and community contributions based on their value rather than mere click activity. It has a fixed supply of 1 billion tokens, with 59.38% allocated to community and ecosystem growth to foster sustainable, skill‑driven engagement.

Anichess, which brings the timeless game of chess to blockchain, has attracted more than 1 million players, including top chess grandmasters such as Magnus Carlsen and Anish Giri.

Today Anichess becomes the first game to integrate CHECK into its gaming experience: as part of a phased roll-out, Anichess players will be able to use CHECK to enter skill‑based tournaments, stake CHECK tokens to advance gameplay via Mate Points (M8), earn performance‑linked rewards, unlock exclusive collectibles, and participate in ecosystem governance.

The adoption of CHECK by Anichess is translating players’ knowledge, skill, and intentional action directly into measurable on-chain value, moving beyond click‑based incentives toward meaningful engagement and growth.

Chevan Tin, head of Anichess, comments: “Integrating the CHECK Token into Anichess lets us align rewards with the most important characteristics of chess: skill and strategic decision‑making. By introducing phased use cases for CHECK such as tournaments, cosmetics, and governance, we’re building a path where strong play and community contributions translate into real utility and rewards.”
