Animoca Brands and Currenc Group suspend merger discussions

Animoca Brands Corporation Limited (“Animoca Brands” or the “Company”) today announced the mutual suspension of discussions regarding the proposed reverse merger with Currenc Group Inc. (Nasdaq: CURR).

The proposed transaction was originally announced on 3 November 2025.

Following a review of the projected closing timelines and evolving market conditions, both parties mutually agreed that the estimated interim period required to finalize the transaction does not align with their respective short- and medium-term strategic goals. The parties may consider resuming discussions if and when conditions permit.

Animoca Brands remains fully committed to relisting on a major public exchange. As part of its ongoing commitment to public market readiness and corporate governance, the Company continues to make significant progress on its financial compliance roadmap. The Company issued FY2023 audited financial statements on 17 July 2026, which marks the second set of audited financial statements released this year. The Company is also actively progressing the preparation of its FY2024 audited financial statements. The completion of both reports are important milestones for the Company.

Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, commented: “While we hold our proposed merger with Currenc Group in high regard, our corporate agility must take precedence. Today, we affirm our focus from a position of significant operational strength, an unmatched digital assets and AI portfolio, and a concerted drive to achieve our compliance milestones. As we advance the comprehensive audit processes required to meet the rigorous compliance standards of a major public exchange, we will continue to pursue optimal routes to a public listing.”
